Back when the XFS reflink code only supported clone_file_range, we were only able to return zero or negative error codes to userspace. However, now that copy_file_range (which returns bytes copied) can use XFS' clone_file_range, we have the opportunity to return partial results. For example, if userspace sends a 1GB clone request and we run out of space halfway through, we at least can tell userspace that we completed 512M of that request like a regular write. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
